PROJECT MANAGER

Vojta Šmíd - portrét

The most important thing is to know the people in your team well (perhaps better than they know themselves), their strengths and weaknesses (yes, we all have some). The PM's key responsibility is providing a communication bridge between the client and the production. Being organised is important, but we're not looking for a walking calendar or deadline reminder (there are apps for that).

He once sorted all his clothes by colour - for fun. We understand why all his tasks in Basecamp are always under control.

Lenka

Our longest-serving PM, apart from many of SYMBIO's projects, she also successfully managed her biggest project in life – being a mum - while working for us.

Teamleader, your backup in times good and bad. He will help you get started, and do everything he can to make sure you enjoy your work, and feel it has a purpose.

What other people at SYMBIO say about PMs?

They see to things immediately, rather than leaving them on the back burner. When a problem occurs, they find a relevant solution. Communicating with the client is key and it starts with a good and clear brief and ends with the ability to present and sell our work.

Marcel Papp,
UX Designer

A PM is like glue; they know what everyone is doing, where they are doing it, and when it will be done, and they hold it all together. They can calm the client down, keep the project running, praise or pity the production team. They have the skill to interpret, because sometimes the brief has to be translated from client-speak into something I understand.

Tomáš Klíma,
Senior Graphic Designer

They know the basics of different technologies, are communicative, see the big picture and don't panic. When a client comments on something, the PM sends the comments to everyone in the team, but chews it over first and then proactively keeps an eye on it.
